Lysande is Loving

This series is a collaboration brought to you by myself and Alex Soler-Lovell, to share what we’re loving. I mean, it’s kind of like the highlights of our Slack conversations but we wanted to bring you into it. Let us know what you’re loving in the comments below!

ONE// The United States Women’s National Soccer Team OMG! They are favored to win their fourth title tomorrow when they take on the Netherlands at 11am EST. I still remember cheering at the top of my lungs 20 years ago when Brandi Chastain scored the winning penalty kick in the 1999 final versus China!

TWO// Speaking of the Women’s National Team, Abby Wambach gave the commencement speech at Barnard in 2018. #wearethewolves

THREE// Reporter Jason Moon presents the Bear Brook murders in the Bear Brook podcast. Not only is this an interesting case because of the perverse nature of serial killers, but it tracks innovations in solving cold case murders. Bear Brook has world class mountain biking trails that Darrell and I had the chance to explore in 2017 (unaware of the case that was unfolding at the time).

FOUR// Updos to beat the summer heat! The Picnic Wired Midi was the MVP of my Fourth of July week.

FIVE// Police in Burnham-On-Sea unveiled “chat benches” on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day to combat loneliness and bring awareness to mental illness in the aging population.

SIX// Moonlight (available on Netflix) follows a young boy in Miami and the challenges that he faces with his sexuality and identity throughout adolescence. Watch it with a box of Kleenex.

SEVEN// What will it take to shatter the ultimate glass ceiling? Five women discuss and Annie Leibovitz photographs.

EIGHT// This website where female founders can create registries for the things that they need for the their businesses. As founder Emily Wazlak puts it, “buy your friend a gravy boat when she’s getting married and support her when she’s starting a business, too.” Visit Lysande’s registry here.

NINE// This pep talk from Lara Parker!

TEN// Illustrator @littlebylupin on Instagram.
